Environmental benefits of LPG include a potential 50 per cent reduction in tail pipe emissions and a reduction of 15-20 per cent in CO2 emissions. Ford LPG Transit currently meets European Emissions Levels Stage IV and consequently qualify for a 60% subsidy on the LPG equipment from the Energy Savings Trust. Compared to diesel engines, the LPG bi-fuel system provides a quieter and cleaner engine – up to 60 per cent quieter than diesel equivalents.
There are more than 1000 LPG fuel stations in the UK. LPG is approximately half the price of diesel or unleaded petrol, making it a good business proposition for operators in the UK.
With LPG now a regular sight at fuel pump forecourts and offering a saving of £15-£20 per 1000 miles, there has never been a better time to switch to LPG Ford Transit. In fact, with the 60% LPG engine grant Transit LPG is now the same price as a Diesel Transit, and consequently allows the savings to be made from the first turn of the wheel.
The Ford LPG Transit has a range of about 200 miles on a tankful of LPG. The new short wheel base, 2.3-litre petrol/LPG Ford Transit starts at £15,900 retail Price excl VAT and delivery for the 300 SWB van.
